![]() ![]() So I was playing my first game of the day when I see that I had just reached level 3 in the game so I was like, huh that’s sort of strange. I woke up the next day to see my account level was back at prestige 1 level 1 so I naturally thought that the game must’ve glitched or something like that and I didn’t really care. I then played another game, reached level 2, then turned off my Xbox and went to sleep. Everything was fine and I was racking up levels until I hit prestige 1 level 1. I purchased CoD: Cold War the other day, the only other CoD that I played previously was Warzone in it’s later stage in its life cycle, and I managed to get to level 46 on Warzone alone so when I logged in on Cold War I had my account levels there. Submitted by joe_k_knows to Marvel Ģ023.04.14 02:08 RedditManThatIscool Help I Am Stuck It’s worth reading one of the most epically-crafted sagas in comics of all time. Go further than I did and read Secret Warriors and all of Hickman’s Ultimate Universe stuff. If you are wanting to read Secret Wars, do yourself a favor and read the background stuff. I understand that there are tie-ins (and apparently really, really good tie-ins), but I would have liked to see the X-Men play a larger role. The Mutants, with the exception of Beats, are largely sidelined. This may not be Hickman’s fault, but it definitely feels like some characters go shortchanged because of intercompany BS between Fox and Disney.Strange, he spends the rest of Hickman’s run chasing down the Illuminati instead of trying to stop the incursions. The problem is that, once he finds out he was mind-wiped by Dr. I have no problem with Captain America being against the Illuminati’s actions to stop the incursions I actually find myself (mostly) on his side of the moral debate. I am not a fan of how he writes Captain America.Hickman’s writing can be very dense at times, and there are a few too many introductions of alien “gods” that apparently were integral to the creation of everything. And the fight ends when Doom- the most arrogant man to exist- finally admits that Reed is better than him. The climactic fight at the end of Secret Wars is the culmination of one of the greatest rivalries in comics, second perhaps only to Batman and the Joker. And yet, despite everything he has, Doom knows that he’s not good enough. We’ve seen stories with Doom becoming all-powerful, but here he has taken it upon himself to become not just a god but, in his mind, God. I had an understanding of what happened in Secret Wars before I read it, but I was still impressed with how fresh and exciting the story was. My favorites scenes in these stories were between T’Challa and Namor- two kings embracing the loss of their souls (one more willingly than the other) to save their people. This is coupled with the two central conflicts of these stories: Black Panther vs. ![]() ![]() The Illuminati is put in the position of deciding the fates of trillions upon trillions of lives, and there are no easy answers. The New Avengers and Avengers runs by Hickman involves some of the best portrayals of truly grey morality I’ve seen in fiction. Nothing is more important to him than family, which motivates his actions in the Incursion Era. Reed refuses the utilitarian logic of his multiversal counterparts and stays with his family. And yet, Hickman makes it clear that family is the key theme throughout these runs, with characters going to great lengths to protect their families. It's obvious that Hickman is a big fan of high-concept sci-fi, with his Fantastic FouFF runs exploring time travel, multiverses, etc. ![]() Hickman and the artists he’s worked with (Steve Epting, Jim Cheung, Esad Ribić, and others) have created a grand narrative about the Marvel Multiverse, highlighting characters at their best and worst. I just finished reading Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars (2015), along with most of Hickman stories that led into the event (his runs on Fantastic Four, FF, New Avengers, Avengers, and Infinity, along with a good portion of his Ultimate Universe stuff). (SPOILERS FOR JONATHAN HICKMAN’S MARVEL STORIES PRE-X-MEN) ![]()
